Valentine's DayValentine's DayValentine's Day With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, it’s the perfect time to discuss how to capture a great romantic photograph! Follow these tips to get a photograph that expresses the love between you and your significant other.

While photographing a romantic scene, it is important to make sure that the lighting in the photograph matches the mood you are trying to portray. For a fun, bright photo of the couple, have your light source facing them so they are lit up. For a romantic, silhouetted shot of the lovebirds, have the light source coming from behind them; sunsets are great for these. Dimming down the lights in a room, or shifting your light source to a candle or sunset can help you accentuate a romantic feel.

Use Layering
Pictures of couples can often look a bit staged. Layering can be a great tool to combat this problem. Adding a layer to your photo gives the viewer a sense that they are getting a glimpse of an intimate moment. Simply use an object to cut the photograph into different segments. For
example, take a photo of a couple from the opposite side of a framed window. Another way to break up the photo is to offset the subject so the couple isn’t boringly placed right in the center of the picture.

One of the most important aspects of a romantic shoot is that the two subjects are comfortable. Our tip against this- have fun with your shoot! It’s normal to feel a little bit awkward letting a photographer into the intimacy of your relationship. This is why it is important to choose a photographer that puts you and your loved one at ease. Make sure that both of you are familiar with each other, and try not to take yourselves too seriously!
